Web Development Agreement

hey friends! can i call your friend? today, we'll be discussing the process of web design are you ready? in the last video, we've talked about the definition of web design and our role as designers in the process. basically today we'll be discussing more about the process of web design, how it is done, how can we get started

so, we can divide the design process into five (5) stages. so, we call that the 5d design process. first is 'discover' in the discovery stage of the design process, this is the initial phase wherein we asked several questions to the client prior to starting the project because it is important for us to understand what to design. we can ask many questions as

much as possible to clarify the web design that'll be doing, but here are some questions that may give the idea. first is "what are the business goal? what really is the goal of the business in starting the website? second is "who are the customers?" what are their age, occupation and location? because it is as important to understand

those things as those will be the basis primarily the design. say corporate is the target business.. (**rooster crowing**).. so if corporate is the target of the business, we'll be designing in a much serious note or serious tone or if younger generations or students or youth, or millennials, we'll be either using bold colors or images lifestyle or something

depending on who or what are we trying to target, what chunk of the market that are we trying to target with this website next is what is the company? we need to have an idea what industry does the company belong, thier products their services or what are they offering primarily. because knowing

the company will give you much ideas of how you will do the design. because their products, their services, will give you some sort of direction in which you want to convey the message of the company. third is "what content will appear in the website? in web design, "content is king". so if we're used to designing with lorem ipsum content,

when you are handling the client it is best if you know what will be the content of the certain page what will be the content of the website? what features should be included? that is an important part because it will be easier to arranged and easier to layout if you have the exact content that will be online or if not at

least the client must give you the idea of what has to be there. and "any visual considerations?" is there any existing branding? if they got the branding or branding guidelines been good you know what you are going to use but if not, you'll have to ask what type of fonts do they want, colors, if they have preferred palette or what are not to be used?

the restrictions of the design. and lastly, "any marketing considerations?" so basically, we know that a website is some somehow inclined with their marketing efforts to somehow get visibility in the internet. what has to be there to help marketing do its job since web design is mostly part of their marketing. bang!

the second step of the 5d is the "define". you have to know the scope your work. in this stage we will be talking about project management first of them would be the "time frame or the delivery date". you have to agree on a certain specific date which will always based on the client but at least you have this idea of when you have to finish the project. when you know

in the delivery date you'll know or you'll have the basic idea of how you would rate the client, the basic ceiling in pricing. which goes to the next idea or the next bullet point which is "define the budget". so you have to know how much are the client willing to pay for this project. based on the first "discovery" part probably you have the idea

of how you would charge based on what is needed by the design of the website and the total project cost. i myself, i usually go with project based pricing because i think it is clearer for both the client and me, since the budget is fixed. no over exceeding or underpayment some designers are also doing hourly rate. also,, when defining the budget, you have to give the

terms of payment. how will it be? is it fifty percent down then fifty percent when the project's finish for myself what i usually use is i ask for the fifty percent up front then depends on the process of designing, then i will ask for another twenty five percent when we're almost there then another twenty-five percent

after the delivery of the final product next bullet point would be the ownership. who owns the project after it's done? can you add them to your portfolio or not because it is essential to know the rights of the client. that is what we are trying to protect, their copyright. in terms of legality so we have to know or we have to

difine the ownership after the project or before even the project started next would be the "assets". who will provide them? say logos, backgrounds or icons and lastly after those things have been defined, we need to place them in a black and white. they have to be on paper, there has to be a signed agreement worst case scenario at least you have

something to show the client something you've agreed-upon you have to show them signed proof that this is what we've agreed to deliver don't just rely on spoken words. for the contract part, i will add the link on the description below there's this contract that we designers usually use or patterned to. just read the description to check it out next is the real design. this is the real deal

this is what we are paid for. we're finally in the design part. it's the idea of overall look and feel the bullet points would be look for inspirations basically you need to search for nearest idea or nearest identical idea to theirs say look at their competitors, how are competion are doing. another thing is look at the same feel that they're after.

like corporate or vintage, whatsoever and after that try to capture those those ideas into one single file say make a style tiles. if you don't know anything about the style tiles, i'll be adding the link to the style tiles below. style tiles is a process wherein you get a bunch of ideas and sort it into a single document to show the client. that will be

define the look and feel without even going to the final comp. because it's easier to craft a style tiles in the beginning of the project then agreed upon it and then work with the design than doing a final design, final mock-up then showto clients and get some rejections next is "create a wireframe" so when it comes to wire framing it doesn't

necessarily have to be shown to the client but to have somehow a sense of the layout, a sense of the grid. so you can understand somehow on how you'll be doing the codes, and how you'll work on the design based on the wire frame we'll go to the last bullet point, which is to create the actual mock-up or the actual composition that part would be shown to the client after then we'll start on the fourth process

which is creating a prototype or which is the development, the actual development of the site. somehow development of the site or the website depends upon the project itself, whatever is required, but mainly we have this considerations of first you have to create the html then the style, the overall look, and the behavior. after those you have basically

you have to take into consideration is client will be using a cms or what we call the content management system. will they be using joomla or drupal or the good old wordpress or will it be just plain codes. how would the customer manage the content of the website the we'll go to the launch of the product or the project which is the "deploy". this is the part

where in we go live. the process of deployment is on the hardware or software installation and say we have cms already working then "data conversion" how would the data inputs be sent to client? next would be user training. basically instruct or having basic instructions or documentation of how the system works "support training" you have to teach the

client or whoever will be managing the website on how to do simple tasks like adding listings or adding content or editing this and that so that the way they won't have to go to you every time they have some edits or some additions to the webpage especially if they are using cms. lastly the "post-implementation review"

on the deployment, usually we do the process of stress test. what would be the bugs that would have to fixed. the responsiveness or browser compatibility so to sum it up, the 5d process will be first "discover", then "define", then "design", then "develop" and lastly "deploy" so if you are new to web design or new to the industry or having your first client, this could be a good start to

spear heading your own project so then again so then again, thank you so much for watching my video so if you have comments suggestions please leave a comment below or if you liked the video hit like if you don't like it just dislike and yeah since you're here you can subscribe to the channel and we'll be doing future videos real soon
